Taking Stock: The Process of Peace in Colombia

Jessica Faieta is Former Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations System in Colombia. Prior to this, Faieta was the Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Deputy Head of the United Nations Verification Mission in Colombia. Since 2014, she was UN Assistant Secretary-General and UNDP Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean.
Manuela Nivia is a Master in Public Policy in Global Affairs candidate at the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs at Yale University. Before arriving at Yale, she worked in various capacities on programs related to migrant and refugee women; food security; conflict mitigation; gender-based violence; and rule of law throughout Central and South America. During her undergraduate career at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, she completed an honors thesis on grassroots peace activism in Colombia for which she was awarded the Douglas Eyre Award for Excellence.
Angelika Rettberg is a full professor at the Political Science Department at Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá – Colombia), where she leads the Research Program on Armed Conflict and Peacebuilding. She is also a Global Fellow at the Peace Research Institute of Oslo (PRIO) and a co-director of the Gender, Justice and Security Hub, hosted at the London School of Economics. In 2018 she served as a negotiator for the Colombian government in the peace talks with the Ejército de Liberación Nacional (ELN). Her research has focused on several aspects of the political economy of armed conflict and peacebuilding, such as the relationship between legal resources, armed conflict, and criminality in several Colombian regions, the dynamics of transitional justice, and business behavior in contexts of armed conflict and peacebuilding.
